The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, emphasized the importance of maintaining a respectful and positive relationship with the United States, stating that it is an obligation for both countries. In an interview during her trip to Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, to oversee a hospital, Sheinbaum affirmed that discussions between the governments of Mexico and the United States remain active.
"Regarding our sovereignty and respect for the people, nations, we are obliged to have a good relationship," declared the leader. Sheinbaum referred to the relevance of maintaining a constant dialogue to strengthen ties between both countries and resolve disputes diplomatically.
Sheinbaum mentioned that she will address the issue of the recent rejection of a plane transporting migrants deported from the United States during the morning conference, known as the "MaƱanera del Pueblo." In this regard, she defended Mexican migrants, highlighting their positive contributions in both Mexico and the United States.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated that repatriated nationals will always be welcomed with open arms in Mexico, emphasizing the importance of providing them with support and protection. Additionally, Sheinbaum referred to the review of the Trade Agreement between Mexico, Canada, and the United States (T-MEC), stating that she will address this topic in an upcoming conversation.
"Our migrant brothers are good people, workers, who contribute greatly to the economy of Mexico and the economy of the United States," expressed Sheinbaum, highlighting the fundamental role that migrants play in both economies. Despite reports in U.S. media indicating that the Mexican government had rejected the reception of a flight of deportees, U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Burce denied this version, assuring that Mexico had not denied receiving the flight.
